Competition Analysis

This is the analysis of competitors in both the US and UK. These companies especially "Growing Spaces" and "Pacific Domes" are our only primary competition. Although these companies have been doing quite well, they only offer lower technology solutions that are labor intensive and expensive, unlike the "Food Biosphere" copyrighted design, which features ease of assembly, extreme high R-Value to protect the plants in cold weather and a large thermal mass which completely surrounds the plants. Note the prices and specifications of these companies may be subject to change.

Growing Spaces    http://www.GrowingSpaces.com
colorado company to watch
Our main competition sells kits in a variety of sizes from 15’ to 42’ diameter.   The kits provide the polycarbonate sheets which screw onto a wood rib system. Even though these kits can be extremely labor intensive to assemble, they have been doing quite well and in 2010 won the fastest growing companies to watch in Colorado.

Kacper M. Postawski sells an DIY eBook for $50 on how to build a geodesic greenhouse called the "Eden Biodome".   He has been an automated web marketing success, showing a great interest based on our internal research thousands that have signed up for his automated webinars that lead you to the conclusion that you definitely need a dome greenhouse food growing solution in today’s world.   When you purchase the book which he promises you can make a greenhouse dome for under $500 as the one pictured below, you will find that the book gives references to online links of other people that are unaffiliated to calculate the domes wooden rib system, but when you cover the rib systems with the glazing you are now into thousands of dollars
.
The Bad
Everything in their marketing to encourage building a greenhouse dome is true, the problem is the bad impression left by those who purchased the eBook that the promise did not disclose anywhere near the true cost of the dome.  Kacper has spammed the engines with fake reviews.

The Good
Kacper’s efforts have shown that there is an extreme interest in people wanting to provide a healthy and secure food supply solution for their families, judging by the hundreds of people who sign up for his webinars daily and his website traffic statistics you can see below.    He has advertised extensively on high traffic alternative information sites with banner ads and has created a lot of awareness to the thousands that have signed up for his free webinar.    So a lot of promise but no delivery of a real solution gives us the benefit of giving people what they really want which is a turn-key solution.

Why is this product superior in features and price compared to the competition?

For example, if our raw cost for manufacturing is let's say $7,000 for a 30’ dome and we were to sell it for $17,000, that is a $10,000 profit. At an example retail price of $17,000 here is how we would compare.

The next closest competitor Growing Spaces retails at $19,950 for their 33’ and is a labor intensive wood structure in which 5 wall polycarbonate sheets are screwed onto. The R-value is better than 3.0 with a 62% light transmission, there is no comparison. Why pay almost $3,000 more, get less and have more labor?

The lowest price competitor Pacific Domes sells their 30’ greenhouse dome for $13,300, which is nothing more than a metal framework covered in custom to fit manufactured 13oz vinyl with 82% light transmission offering an R-value during the winter of less than R-1 compared to R-40 without any type of thermal mass to stabilize the temperature for the plants. You also have to factor in periodic replacement costs for the outer vinyl covering which is a custom product from Pacific Domes. For a $3700 difference, when you weight all the factors out on a $13,300 price, again no comparison.
